Awesome story just short

I really enjoyed this book, but i did think it was way to short. I did like how it got straight to the point and i mean straight to the point lol. I cant wait to see who Jade picks and how she deals with her shamrock loves.

This story is about a girl who is in college and keeps giving her heart away to the wrong guys who keeps breaking her heart. But when she sleeps with her best friend things take her for a world wind when people from her past come back into play. You have 4 guys trying to win Jades heart but she tells them her heart is strictly off limits.

This short story is an awesomely steamy book. It definitely had me reading till the end! The cliffhanger has been keeping me on my toes waiting to read more on Jade. I can tell her story is going to be one that will be hard to put down. I have already told some friends who are addicted to books like this, that it is going to have you wanting more.

Holy Hotness, I just finished Strictly Off Limits (Jade's College Diaries 0.5) by Crystal D. Spears and I loved it! Yep, a love triangle like no other....Seriously, Jade I love her and her little hussy self! Did I mention she has 4 HOT SEXY guys chasing her and she can't choose just one. So, there's Nate her playboy best friend who she has had a thing for since freshman orientation, but they were never more than friends. Then the twins with their dark skin, jet black hair, and charcoal piercing eyes ***swooning*** over Brayden and Layden ***cough*** Umm I want them both tehehehehe! Oh and did I mention they have tattoos and piercings...Yes, I am a sucker for bad boys! ***sigh*** Last but not least Dean (walk-er on outta there) Walker is the sexy, sweet, charming, playboy that hmmm has a piercing that would make any girl's panties wet! He was a little wordy throughout the story for a college guy, but I have to say I was swooning over him wordy or not.

Are you interested yet? You totally should be this is one HOT story that had me hooked! It's a short novella and this series will be in six installments. It recently received a makeover too with a new title and cover. The new cover is total HOTNESS! Spears did a phenomenal job on this novella! I cannot wait to finish the series. It was well written and kept me engaged throughout the story! I read it in one sitting because she had me hook, line, and sinker! I will definitely be continuing the series and best of all each book is scheduled to be released about a month apart so you don't have to wait long! After reading this series I seriously want to go back to college! Stay tuned for my next review of Strictly Stuck (Jade's College Diaries, Strictly Series #1). About the Author
M. Kat Anderson is a Lecturer in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California, Davis; Associate Ecologist at the Agricultural Experimental Station at the University of California, Davis; and a faculty member in the Graduate Group in Ecology at the University of California, Davis. She is coeditor, with T. C. Blackburn, of Before the Wilderness: Native Californians as Environmental Managers (1993) and coeditor, with Henry T. Lewis, of Forgotten Fires: Native Americans and the Transient Wilderness by Omer C. Stewart (2002).

Our Sustainable Future

This excellent book written about the management of California land by the native people in the past, is also a textbook of what we will need to do in the future to survive. M. Kit Anderson has written a revolutionary book. The wealth of information on how Native peoples managed the California landscape in a sustainable way finally does justice to these people and their way of life - a people who were so cruelly treated by the Spanish and American invaders. The author explores the ecological management skills of California native peoples without romanticizing them or ignoring mistakes that they made.

The modern environmental movement created the myth of the unspoiled wilderness untouched by human hands. Tending the Wild debunks that myth and levels some well earned criticism towards those environmentalists who failed to appreciate how the California native peoples were successfully and actively managing the California landscape, as were other indigenous people around the world.

But the wealth of detail the book provides on how the Native Americans successfully managed the California landscape is also a model of sustainable living that has much to teach all of us. We learn an alternative to the destructive environmental, agricultural and development practices of our time. Practices that are destroying our ability to not only preserve the beauty of the landscape but to use the landscape wisely to provide for our needs in a sustainable way.

Kat Andersons well researched book can be used by conservationists, land managers, ecologists, scientists, historians, and others to better understand historical Native American land use in California. This book helps dispell the myth of passive Native American resource management and provides examples of how Native Americans influenced much of the landscape prior to European contact and how removal of their influence continues to effect the environment today. Anyone who considers themselves and expert or has an interest in California vegetation and issues surrounding its ecology and use should read this book.

Absolutely Genius

In her book Tending the Wild, M. Kat Anderson has painted a very different picture of indigenous peoples than most civilized people could even begin to fathom. She begins by taking us through the history of California and its Native peoples. Using accounts of explorers, missionaries, pioneers and anthropologists she shows how those of our culture came to California with no understanding or lens with which to understand native land management. Rather, like everywhere else, civilization saw resources to extract, came and conquered California and her people. With California's wildlife & Native cultures now decimated, newer research has shown that Native land management actually contributed to enhancing the biological diversity and abundance of life. Anderson argues that if we wish to restore our mutual relationship with nature, we must learn these ancient management techniques and implement them immediately. Although she uses only California Natives to back her thesis, we can witness these same principles among indigenous cultures the world over. This book works not only as a history of indigenous horticulture in California, but mostly as a beginners manual for those who seek to understand more about sustainable, indigenous land management. Superb!

The book opens with an essay by William Feaver; personal and enlightening it makes fascinating reading; the writer has clearly known the artist for some time. Feaver conveys a clear picture of the artist, his background and training, and his approach to his work. Also included are four conversations between Fever and Lucian Freud: November 1992 (appeared The Observer December 1992), April 1998 (The Observer May 1998), November 2001 (on John Constable) and February 2007. The book concludes with a List of Illustrations, fairly brief Chronology and a Bibliography.

This book is illustrated throughout in full-colour including the black and white drawings but not the etchings, which alone are reproduced in black and white half-tone. There are 362 illustrations in the Plates section with many more pictures accompanying the essay.

This large format book comes in a very substantial slip-case. The outstanding feature of the book however is the reproduction of the paintings; mostly full-page in size, with many bleed images and several double-page spreads. The work is arranged chronologically with the earliest dating from 1939 up to 2006; almost entirely portraits, figures or groups, there is the occasional still life and a few scenes. An impressive and beautiful book superbly illustrated, it is to be highly recommended.

The Freud (Lucian) bible

Among the many publications available on the British master, this one is undoubtedly the best. Written by a specialist of Freud's art, it is almost a catalogue raisonné and follows a chronological pattern that starts with the early paintings from the 1940's and ends with the latest works from 2007. Especially interesting are the various interviews of the artist that give invaluable insight on his working methods and how he views his own art. All the illustrations are in full color and enable the reader to distinguish the thick and brutal brushstrokes of the painter and his ability to extract the beauty in the ugliness of the human being.

Very nice.

This is a very nice reprint in a slipcase version. Its artwork chronicles up throgh 2006. I have the old Random House slip case book from 1996 with an intro by Bernard. The reproductions up through '96 are almost all the same. The Random House versions images are about 20 percent bigger. This new book has three nice interviews with Freud. This version has about 75 paintings beyond the 1996 version. Not enough for me to keep the book, but If you are looking for the best catalog of his work, this is it. Get it now, it will go out of print and a book shark will be happy to sell it to you at 5 times its current price.

Clark deftly ties the plot playing out on the ocean liner to Athena's murder in a suspenseful climax in this lively series launch.

Regan Reilly has been persuaded to travel to New York with dotty old Lady Veronica Exner. Both Regan and Lady Exner are recovering from a jolt: Just before they shipped out, the body of Regan's ten-years'-missing college roommate, Athena Popolous, was discovered during a reunion at St. Polycarp's, right around the corner from the Exner estate. Could the killer have been Lady Exner's nephew and heir-apparent, stammering Prof. Philip Whitcomb, or his improbably sharp-eyed fianc‚e, Val Twyler--or one of the stable of stock villains trying to rob or kill Lady Exner aboard the Queen Guinivere? Fortunately, a stable of equally familiar-looking shipmates (including Regan's universally adored suspense novelist mom, obviously modeled on first-novelist Clark's own famous mother) is on hand to help Regan to a revelation that's a lot less surprising than you might expect. Hello Regan Reilly, A Wonderful Beginning

I have been reading Carol Higgins Clark for several years, but never had the opportunity to read her first Regan Reilly book. Now I have and I loved it. I have been addicted to Carol's books ever since the first read, and this one did not dissapoint.
Regan goes to her 10 year reunion in Oxford with her best friend. She discovers that her roommate who had dissapeared 10 years earlier was murdered and her body only recently found. After attending a tea at the home of an elderly aunt of one of the professors who had befriended the girls in school, Regan is pursuaded to take a sea voyage with the aunt. Also on the ship are Regan's parents (an author and a funeral parlor owner), some kooky passengers, a jewel thief, and a murderer.
The characters are believable, the plot is tricky and humorus, and the intrigue is stimulating. Carol never dissapoints and she is no amature even in this first book.
I appreciate a book that moves along at a nice pace, has no drag and does not leave loose ends.Thank you, Carol.

Did I read the same book as the others here?

Total rubbish. I admit to a DNF and let me give you just a few examples from the opening chapters to explain why:

1 - The author(s) haven't any feel for the geographical setting of this book which revolves around slavery. For a start, although slaves could be brought into Britain in 1772, they could not be bought or sold; they could be brought into the country only as personal servants - indeed, admittedly there was a fashion to have young black pages but many of them were not slaves but were servants and freemen. Also, in 1772 (the year in which the book opens with a slave auction) the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Mansfield, made a ruling under common law that "the condition of slavery did not exist under English law in England". Therefore, much of the premise of the book is quite inaccurate and to me, therefore, unacceptable. I could see that in Jamaica the heroine's late husband could be a nasty man but I can't believe he could have got away with holding slaves and mistreating them in England itself.

2 - Titles. A personal hobby horse but please note that a wife of "Squire Jones" is not Lady Jones; squire itself is not a "title" of any sort - it merely refers to an owner of a substantial property for farming purposes in the countryside. The hero's mother, a dowager countess, is introduced in the first chapter as "Lady Archibald Pennington, Countess of Aytoun. Her given name is Beatrice". I haven't the first clue what the authors were doing here but it is completely wrong. As I and others have noted in reviews, why get things 100% wrong when 5 minutes looking at the internet would put you right? Do authors actually prefer making a mess of this sort of thing? Why write about titled people in a country you apparently know little about and thus make a complete bodge of it? I just don't get it.

3 - Attempts at dialect/accent. Having all characters not of the gentry/aristocracy continually use "ye" in conversation is silly beyond words since the authors have both Scots and English servants do it when their accents and dialects would have huge differences.

4 - The solicitors (not lawyers in England) are "Sirs". Baronets or knights? Really? In the 18th century solicitors or barristers were generally middle class (sometimes younger sons of the lesser aristocracy) and untitled (so not baronets) and certainly not knighted for their profession. It does not take much research to establish that.

5 - Field hands. Maybe on slave plantations in America but in England those who work in the fields are called farm workers, estate workers, cowmen, ploughmen, shepherds, or labourers but not field hands. Also, trying to make an English country estate akin to a plantation in Georgia is so irritating that I could not take it any longer and so began to contemplate a DNF.

6 - The drugged hero. He has family who love him but they seemed to have no compunction in drugging him into a continual stupor. I am afraid I just did not care enough by the 5th chapter to pursue this any further.

Finally, OK - I admit I could not persist in this. The writing style is grating (perhaps because there is more than one hand in it) and the attention to period and historical detail was not at all high quality. As much as I dislike giving a bad review, I hope I've given enough detail above to show why I could not get interested enough to read this.

An extrodinary historical romance...

Five years ago, after her husband was killed, Millicent Wentworth went about trying to right all the wrongs her husband commited. Millicent knew from experience exactly what the slaves had to endure at the hands of her brutal husband. Given into marriage by her uncle who only wanted to get rid of her, Millicent was more than relieved to become a widow. Then her husband's creditor, Jasper Hyde, started calling in her debts. When the dowager countess of Aytuon requests that she marry her son in return for all her debts to be paid, Millicent's refuses, for she knows she can never endure being a man's possession again. When the dowager talks her into it, Millicent has no idea how much her husband will come to mean to her, or how wrong for him she is.
Lyon Pennington, Earl of Aytuon didn't care one way or another if he was married. Crippled on the night that his wife fell off a cliff, Lyon took refuge in the medicine that the doctors insisted he take. When taken to Melbury Hall, he soon is brought out of his drug induced stupor by the woman he doesn't recall, but knew he married.
I would give this book six stars if I could. Millicent is one of my favorite historical heroines. With her courage and compassion, Millicent saved many lives, include Lyon's. Even after getting through five hellish years of marriage and almost dying, Millicent still has good in her heart. McGoldrick brings the reader two people who help each other come to terms with their pasts and heal their hearts, all while falling in love. The secondary characters in this book are unforgettable. The whole storyline was great, not like most historicals where the most pressing issue is what is fasionable to wear.

A not so historical Historical Romance

This is a cute story about values, people who uphold values, and how people can change. The Heroine has so much depth to her at the beginning, that she doesn't develop very much. However, it seems like she devolves, more than evolves, in this story line, as she gets used to her new husband. For a woman who wanted things so steadfastly in her way once her first husband died, she really caves in when her new husband begins to make real demands that don't include drugs. The Hero evolves more than she does. He at least goes from surly and demanding to just outright demanding.
Oh, and I won't get started on the inaccuracies of the time period. I just won't.
