Absolutely Amazing - One of the best TEFL Resources!!!

This book is an absolute must have for anyone seriously considering teaching English abroad. The book is richly detailed and immensely practical. It describes aspects of teaching abroad that only a very experienced teacher would know. The book reveals what is really required to teach English in Italy: how to find employment, how to get a work visa, how to negotiate the government bureaucracy, and what to expect in your daily teaching environment. Teaching English to foreigners is not easy, and the author makes sure you know what you're getting yourself into before you pack your suitcase.

I also corresponded with the author by email and he took a personal interest in trying to help me find a job and also put me in contact with other teachers in Rome so that I could learn from their experiences. Well worth the price, even in hardcover, although the eBook is cheaper.

I have recommended this book to all the students on my TEFL course.

Book too Expensive for the Information

I have purchased other books on the same topic. Although this book was much more expensive than the others, I decided to purchase anyway because after reading the reviews, I thought it was going to offer new, helpful information. Well, for the extra $25-30 cost, it really doesn't. I did not find any additional information to make the book worth the $50 cost. I am disappointed.

Good Quality - Useful Information not found in later editions

Book was carefully shrink wrapped and in excellent condition.
This edition includes useful tables and examples not found in later editions.
It is well organized with minimum "blind path" sections that are a characteristic of later editions.
Is dated with respect to steel data but still useful.
I would definitely recommend this edition to any serious structural engineer.

Great Reference

Received the book in great condition. It is a must have for anyone in the steel or construction industries. The recent versions have the newer and more exotic structural shapes. But if you are using standard shapes and materials, this has everything you could ever want. The principles of math and physics have not changed that much in the past 50+ years. :)

About the Author

Linda Jeffries holds a master's degree in TESOL from Boston University. She has taught reading, writing, and ESL/EFL at Boston College; Boston University; the Harvard Summer ESL Programs; the University of Opole, Poland; and the University of Bologna, Italy. She lives in Italy, near Bologna, and teaches academic reading and writing at the University of Modena.

 

Bea Mikulecky holds a master's degree in TESOL and a doctorate in applied psycholinguistics from Boston University. In addition to teaching reading, writing, and ESL, she has worked as a teacher trainer in the Harvard University Summer ESL Program, in the Simmons College MATESL Program, and in Moscow, Russia. Bea Mikulecky is the author of A Short Course in Teaching Reading Skills.

After Amelia is framed for murder, she flees her village and runs into the woods. The woods prove even more dangerous though, and she is rescued by one of the fabled "banded men." One of the brothers had a vision from the Goddess that Amelia is to be their mate, so despite her protests, they keep her. Of course it takes some spanking to convince her. This short fantasy novella has a fairy-tale quality about it--a hot, sexy, steamy fairy tale. Whew! Loved the ménage scenes!

Normally I don't like fantasy novels, not even romantic fantasy novels. But I DO love Sue Lyndon, so I decided to buy it. I am so glad I did. It doesn't go into super sci fi, but it does go into one girl and two gorgeous men and double the spanking. I enjoyed it immensely. I like the diversity of one brother vs. the other. Their personalities, looks, and demeanor are opposite but their love of Amelia is charming. Definitely not just another fantasy romance book.

I have never written a review but I had to after reading this book. I will not pass judgement as to if you will like it but I will give my opinion. The story was underdeveloped and immature.
The Good: Love ménage romance
The Bad: I'm all for a little BDSM but true BDSM is not about degrading your partner. It is about testing boundaries to increase pleasure. This book left me feeling disgusted and put off. While one brother only calls the heroine "Girl" ,and it NEVER sounds cute or loving, he punishes her by violating her "dark hole". Ok, so I don't know about the rest of you but any anal play should only be done as pleasure play. Instead it was used as punishment, which she begs him not to do again, more than once! This heroine's weak, whinny, and lacks ANY depth.

The 1969 and 1986 Vienna Conventions on the Law of Treaties are essential components of the contemporary international legal order. They aim at regulating what has become the main source of public international law and a crucial tool in inter-state relations. The Vienna Conventions codify to a significant extent the customary rules that pre-existed in the field, but also put forward innovative concepts, such as jus cogens. In spite of their importance, these two instruments had so far not been the object of a detailed commentary. These volumes fill that gap, by providing both international and national lawyers with an in-depth analysis of each provision of both Conventions. The structure of each commentary is essentially uniform, with the first part dedicated to the exposition of that provision's object and purpose and to the assessment of its customary status. The second part of each commentary deals with the main issues of interpretation raised by the provision in question. Extensive reference is made to the travaux preparatoires of both Conventions, including the work of the UN International Law Commission and the proceedings of the 1969 and 1986 diplomatic conferences, and to practice both prior to and following the adoption of the Conventions. The 90 + authors who contributed to the book come from twenty different countries and include some of the most respected experts in international law.

About the Author

Olivier Corten teaches public international law at the Universite libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), and director of the Revue belge de droit international/Belgian Review of International Law. He is the author or co-author of four books (Droit d'ingerence ou obligation de reaction ? - Les possibilites d'action visant a assurer le respect des droits de la personne face au principe de non-intervention (Bruylant, Brussels, 1992, et 2nd ed., 1996), L'utilisation du raisonnable par le juge international (Bruylant, Brussels, 1997), Ex-Yougoslavie : droit international, politique et ideologie (Bruylant, Brussels, 1998) and Le droit contre la guerre - L'interdiction du recours a la force en droit international contemporain, Pedone, Paris, 2008) and of more than sixty articles.

Pierre Klein teaches public international law and is Director of the Center of International Law of the Universite libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). He taught as visiting lecturer, then professor, at the Universite catholique de Louvain, the University of Ottawa, McGill University, the Abomey-Calavi University (Benin), the University of Paris XI and the Hague Academy of International Law.
